Designer Bio

At the same time she made quite an impression at the Ottawa Fashion Week where she presented her first evening wear collection.  Today, the designer is working on the Melanie Dubuc plus size clothing line.  With this line, she wishes to give plus size women comfortable and refined styles to fit their busy lifestyle.

Melanie Dubuc graduated from the haute couture program at the Richard Robinson Academy of Fashion Design in Ottawa.  During the course of her studies she perfected her skills and learned the secrets of good cut, perfect fitting and the fine workmanship of haute couture.  She was hired as Richard Robinson's assistant only days after graduation.

About

Fashioning Curves

My name is Melanie Dubuc and I am a French Canadian fashion designer.  In my early 30's I was given the opportunity to follow my true passion and enter a Fashion Design Program.

After graduating, I worked as a designer assistant, a teacher and operated my own made to measure studio.  Little did I know this adventure would turn into a clothing line dedicated to curvy women.

It's no secret; I am a fuller women myself.  Finding designer clothes to fit my lifestyle was no easy task.  It seemed I could only find cheap fast fashion or good quality dated styles.  The first one offering nice styles with horrible quality and fit.  The second better quality but granny styles (the good old baby blue baggy dress).

Not appealing!

What about fashion and quality in the same garment?  What if you are looking for something a little different?   What if different does not necessarily mean over the top?

It suddenly seemed imperative that I created a line of clothing for professional women who need to look polished but like to infuse personality in their style.  And thus, the Melanie Dubuc fashion line for curvy and plus size women was born.
